Description of Services: | Intensive Treatment Area (ITA) provides a secured environment to support intensive assessment and care for persons requiring continuous observation * other beds are provided within an open unit * interprofessional team provides mental health care to clients experiencing acute symptoms of a psychiatric/ mental health disorder | ||

Eligibility - Population(s) Served: | Between the ages of 18 and 65 with severe and persistent mental illnesses listed in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM IV) that seriously impair their functioning in community living * priority is given to people with schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders | ||
Application: | Admissions to the inpatient program are approved by the psychiatrist on call or a member of the psychiatric staff | ||
